The City of Pointe-Claire has created a new information portal called Citizen eSpace, a tool that allows residents and non-residents to view current city notices and alerts, as well as subscribe to telephone notifications, emails, and/or text messages through the Automated Alert System. In the future, a mobile version of Citizen eSpace will be available as an app for your smartphone — another way to stay informed on the go.
Residents can receive instant notifications about urgent situations such as heat waves, flooding, major power outages, severe winds and thunderstorms, exceptional storms, and boil-water advisories.
People registered with the previous alert system will continue to receive emergency alerts only.
Subscribers may customize the non-emergency types of alerts they receive, such as those about waste and recycling collection, citizen services, information about the water networks, roadwork, parks, recreation, and culture, parking changes, and news and press releases.
Another feature of the platform is that citizens will be able to submit certain permit applications online and report issues on city property, with plans for more services to be added over time.
