Back at Edgewater Park for its third iteration, West Island Pride will return to Pointe-Claire on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a day of music, education, and inclusiveness.

West Island LGBTQ2+ Centre Executive Director David Hawkins is thrilled to return to the picturesque location in Pointe-Claire. "We're excited to be back at Edgewater Park this year. It's a beautiful space, and we're grateful for the support of the Pointe-Claire City Council in making this event possible. In the past three years we've been so overwhelmed by the grassroots support we receive from our partners and the community."

The event will welcome organizations from Montreal and the West Island that work directly with 2SLGBTQIA+ people and other marginalized communities, along with a variety of artisans and vendors.

This year’s partners include the West Island Community Resource Centre, Beyond Meals / Au Delas des Repas, Projet Nuances, Community Perspective in Mental Health, Overture with the Arts, and the West Island Affirming Churches.

In a press release, Hawkins said the event is about “celebrating our local community and unifying the community in love and support for our 2SLGBTQIA+ friends, family, and neighbours.” He added that with the challenges facing queer people socially and politically, it is important to create local spaces where the 2SLGBTQIA+ community can be celebrated and supported.

The West Island LGBTQ2+ Centre provides a safe space for individuals to explore their identities while advocating for LGBTQ2+ people and offering educational programs to the wider community, including in schools, seniors’ homes, and various institutions.
