We here at the Pointe-Claire Record would like to give this month's intro over to our alter ego, the Pointe-Claire Citizens' Association (PCCA).
The PCCA was created three years ago by a small group of Pointe-Claire residents who wanted to provide people with a sense of belonging, forge relationships, and bring them together across districts to foster a greater sense of what it means to be a community.
We've done well, with all levels of government coming out to support us in our events and endeavours, and with Pointe-Claire residents taking an interest in what we do.
And just to recap some of what we've accomplished in such a short time: giving our thanks to the good people at Public Works, bringing you engaging speakers like Dave Stubbs and Tarah Schwartz, and our brand new Career Connections program where we match up mentors and mentees. The PCCA has become part of the fabric of Pointe-Claire, weaving itself into the tapestry that encompasses all of what life in Pointe-Claire has to offer.
When the Pointe-Claire Citizens' Association decided to reboot The Pointe-Claire Record, we wanted to extend our reach to more people, to give people a voice, to provide information, and most of all, to help.
And we think we have. We love printing your stories and opinions. We love hearing about your groups and clubs. We love your recipes and your photographs, hearing what you're reading, about your hobbies, and what ties you to Pointe-Claire.
But one of the biggest advantages of PCCA's little newspaper has been to draw your attention to those organizations that ensure our community meets the needs of everyone. There are so many wonderful people working to help with food security, housing information, mental health, accessibility, and social wellness. The West Island is incredibly well-served by some of the most caring individuals you will ever meet.
Which is what brings us to our latest endeavour – our upcoming fundraising concert for two of our most frequented institutions.
On Saturday, May 31st, the Pointe-Claire Citizens' Association will be hosting an INCREDIBLE concert with the legendary J.B. and the Playboys, a legendary hometown band that, in its early days, opened for both the Beach Boys and the Rolling Stones. All proceeds from the concert will benefit Ricochet and West Island Mission, and you can read all about it on page 8.
We want to again thank you all so much for the support you continue to give us here at The Pointe-Claire Record and the Pointe-Claire Citizens' Association. You are making all the difference.
