Toes tapping, fingers snapping, people dancing...
The audience was all smiles at the Pointe-Claire Citizens' Association's fundraiser benefiting Ricochet (Hébergement/Homes) and West Island Mission on May 31st at the Mayfair Tavern in Pointe-Claire.
Rocking out until nearly midnight was Montreal's own J.B. and the Playboys, a band who, in the mid-1960s, opened for groups such as The Beach Boys and The Rolling Stones. Playing songs from their own repertoire as well as familiar classics of the era, the band kept the crowd entertained and on their feet all night long.
Selling out to a nearly full house, the event brought in nearly $2000 for Ricochet, the West Island's only homeless shelter, and West Island Mission, which operates a food bank out of its new location on Brunswick Blvd. In addition to the funds collected, many of the generous attendees brought in bags of non-perishable items to help fill a need in the community – a need that continues to grow in the West Island every year.
The Pointe-Claire Citizens' Association is grateful for the generosity of all the attendees who were so generous in their support of these wonderful organizations and was thrilled to have Suzanne Scarrow, Executive Director of West Island Mission, and Tania Charron, Director of Ricochet, on hand to rock out for a great cause.
If you were unable to attend the event but would still like to support these organizations, please visit their websites at https://www.wimmoi.org and https://www.ricochetwestisland.com. Non-perishable food donations can be dropped off at 72D Brunswick Blvd. in Dollard-des-Ormeaux.
