It was another great evening of entertainment, inflatable fun, and summer treats when the Valois Fair returned to Pointe-Claire on July 16, 2026.

In addition to the rocking atmosphere, the fair offered an opportunity to meet a very special group of people with the Pointe-Claire Volunteer Rescue Unit (PCVRU) on hand, not only to help ensure the event ran safely, but also to celebrate its 75th anniversary.

PCVRU was created by former servicemen in 1951, following the Second World War. Funded by the City of Pointe-Claire and under the umbrella of Public Security, PCVRU is an organization made up of volunteers from a variety of professional backgrounds who help Pointe-Claire residents by responding in emergency situations as well as to incidents posing a threat to public health and safety. They are present at all major events and ready for anything.

Some of their duties include search and rescue, helping provide emergency lighting and electricity during power outages, emergency aid during natural disasters, and administering first aid to sick or injured people.

With several types of vehicles and equipment, PCVRU can be counted on to assist in a time of need. The team is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and dispatched through Public Security.

Described as the “guardian angels” and “jewels” of the City of Pointe-Claire, the Pointe-Claire Volunteer Rescue Unit is always ready to help keep Pointe-Claire residents safe, no matter the circumstances.
